Inktober 52 Week 5: “Mighty”

When English author Edward Bulwer-Lytton said “the pen is mightier than the sword”, he meant that words were a more effective medium for social change than violence.

I don’t know if that’s true, but history shows people are happy to use both. History seems to be a long record of people with pens signing declarations of war, and people with weapons carrying it out. People with pens writing powerful speeches about peace, and ordinary people deciding to live it out in practice.

May we be known as a people who live justly and love mercy, and walk with watchful humility knowing the power of our words AND actions. May we live as representatives of the one true King, even as we yearn for His return.
